Let's start with what I did ALL FREAKING DAY on Sunday.
I repainted my living room/kitchen. I had a lovely shade of red that I had laboriously put up when I first moved in, over 4 years ago. I loved the red but it was limiting my decoration choices. Plus now I have solar screens to combat the crazy-ass Texas heat so it's darker in my house and I wanted to brighten it up. I choose a shade of grey that I just love with a fiery passion. I am OBSESSED with grey these days. It makes all the white things in my house pop and I just love it.
Excuse my GRAND AWFUL mess. It's a bitch to paint, you have to move everything and it's pure chaos. Next up I need to replace the hand-me-down table and chairs, they are so not my style. I really want a tulip table. See how the white pops and it just looks clean? I've since put the kitchen back together since this photo. I cannot live in chaos like this, it makes me skin crawl.
This weekend I also discovered that a Freebirds is opening close to my house. This is a great thing because even though I can see downtown Fort Worth on a daily basis, the closest (decent) place to eat is 20 minutes away and that's only one option I have in that area. Now I'll have two options! My area is very rural, as in I can hear and see the cows from my front door. But it's a brand-new neighborhood that's growing super fast, we're just waiting for shops and grocery stores to catch up to us.
In addition to painting and discovering a new restaurant I took my cat to the vet. Sadly one of my cats, Raven, ran away from home a few weeks ago and she was killed by a car. I cried and cried and cursed her for being a sneaky cat that bolts out the door. I now have two cats left, Sugar and Honey ( they are sisters). Sugar's been acting odd lately and it turns out she's got liver failure. OF COURSE SHE DOES. We are running some tests now to see if it's something we can control or, well, you know. Please keep some positive thoughts in your mind for us, if you can. You can see that poor Jackson was bored to tears and took to laying on the floor. If only he would have napped instead of being your average two-year-old.
And lastly, my new shoes. I am in love with these things. I saw these gems at JcPenney of all places for less than $50. Leather-free, super hot and comfortable, if you can believe that. I rocked these shoes Saturday night and I think I rocked them pretty darn good.
This concludes the crappy photo post. Until next time!

Oh, I just LOVE those shoes! You did rock them!

The walls look great! We are thinking about painting our dining room gray, but we want to wait until we have a real dining room set so we can pick a shade that complements.

Those shoes are amazing! And I'm so sorry to hear about your cats - both of them. I'm sad for you. :(
Can I admit to you that although I've lived in Austin for 16 months I've never been to Freebirds? Is that a sin?

I love the gray! And the shoes! Just doing a little stalking via @leftoflost and Twitter. Don't fret. I'm harmless.

I am loving grey these days too! My co-worker and I wore grey almost everyday last week. Geez, it sounds like we were depressed, but I think we were very fashionable! Love the super chic shoes, I don't think I could ever pull them off with my cankles and all. Freebirds is a great Aggie tradition. Do they have a Vegan menu?

Also, I am LOVING that wall color! Gorgeous!
Sorry about your cats, I'm a cat person, so I understand all too well.
